Eli Manning is finished. We’ve known this for while, but folks have been in denial about this. The latest developments in the Giants tragicomedy is that Manning is benched for game 3, and possibly beyond that, and he’s probably going to retire at the end of the season.
He also doesn’t want to be traded. Why? Does he really want to stay with the Giants, or is he afraid he’ll get sent to Miami or wherever. If he just wants to stay in New York, the solution is clear. Tell management you will agree to a trade, as long as you get to stay in New York. The Jets desperately need a quarterback, at least as long as Sam Darnold is out sick, and surely there are some Jets assets the Giants want, so this seems like a win-win.
